Computer Recycling
Recycling your old computer just got easier as a result of
legislation I sponsored in the 2008 session of the General
Assembly. Under the new1aw, computer manufacturers are required to
provide free recycling for their computers. Dell has already
established a program with Good}Vill Industries to take any brand
of computers, scrub the hard drives, sell usable machines, and
re,cycle components and materials from older machines. Goodwill
Industries has donation centers at:
22405 Enterprise Street
Sterling, VA 20164
(703) 444-5186
8014 Sudley Road
Manassas, VA 20109
(703) 551-3200
Another way to recycle your computer is to drop it off on scheduled
days at PC Recycler at 4005 Westfax Drive, Suite A, Chantilly. They
have a machine that demolishes hard drives. Go to
http://www.pcrecycler.net for more
information and a schedule of drop-off days. For other recycling
sites go to
http://www.deq.virginia.gov.
Click on "Programs" and select "Recycling and Litter".
