The Online Community for Hunters Creek in Herndon, VA
The Hunters Creek Homes Association held its annual Kids' Holiday Party at the Clubhouse on 15 December. 21 children and 16 adults attended the event and the smiles were like sunshine on that cold evening! A big thank you to all who participated and who helped to include: Our neighbors, the Barth family who donated some lightly used books, ex Board member Carol & Jim Favre who donated over 150 beenie babies (enough for a couple Holiday parties and an Easter Egg hunt or two!!!), Neighbor Eva Lewis who brought popcorn to share, the Communicator Editor Kit OConnor and Sue Garrision (wife of Board President Ed) who made and shared delicious homemade cookies! Ex-board member Tracy Malito and son Matthew who not only loaned us their impressive crock o'crayons, but helped to set up and tear down! Director Roland Taylor helped with set up and his whole family pitched in on clean up! Volunteer Treasurer Bill Cool also did set up and tear down and his wife Bessie added her smiles and kid assistance to the party! It is great to see Bessie out and about after her recent surgery!!! President Ed Garrison got out of bed early (he works nights) to help with set up, honchoing the party and un-decorating. Newest Director Evette Ross pitched in and between her table dancing (it's not what you think) and swiffer waving - was able to put up all the "hanging from the ceiling fan" decorations (obviously Evette is going to fit right into the craziness!). Director Joyce Taylor helped with set up, tear down and did the necessary shopping - hot cocoa was welcome in that weather Joyce! Neighbor volunteer Joe Fisher did his fantastic role playing for us - you made the party sooo special for our children Joe, thank you from the bottom of my green elf heart! And speaking of elves - again Drew Curtiss was my partner in the annual trek from the storage facility to the clubhouse and back again with TWO van loads of decorations. This year Drew somehow conned son Alan to join us - we welcomed a younger (but tweeked) back.
Always looking for volunteers for next kids' event which will be the Easter Egg hunt and kids' games - potato sack race, egg race, three legged race, wheelbarrow race, maybe a pet dress up, kite flying, bubble contest? Let me know what you would like to see =and see us on the playground in the Spring!
